Hello all, here is a quick recap of what we did in grade 1 today:
Language Arts - We wrote a small story together as a class on the board using simple sentences. The story was called "The Broken Robot". Later kids were placed in partners and began discussing ideas for them to write their own small story. we will continue this project tomorrow.
Math: We practiced some more addition! Solved many addition problems in our books and used connecting green cubes to make sums and break them apart to find the addends.
Phonics: We took end of Unit 1 Assessment for phonics this included initial. medial and ending consonant sounds. We also took a pretest for Unit 2 to measure growth and compare with end of the unit exam.
Science: We began our first Investigation today! Each group was assigned a new baby plant, we thought of different ways of treating the plants and decided to investigate which was the best way of taking care of them, we will post some new results next week with progress pictures. Ask your child how he needs to rake care of his/her plant!
They will have a visitor speaking in the auditorium today in the afternoon for ECA.
Important reminders: Please make sure your child have a Christian Living Notebook, as Father Prudencio has said they do not all have and a folder for Health class.
Homework: Study for Spelling Quiz! Have a great day :)

Hi parents,
Midweek recap for everyone:
Language Arts: More telling sentences. Proof read sentences adding capital letters and periods. Finished some work in our English Practice Work Book. Students are doing very well in Language arts classes so far!
PE: Due to the storm, kids went with Mr. Yanna to the auditorium and held their class there.
Math: Key terms: plus sign, equal sign, sum, addend and addition sentence. We practice adding numbers in their horizontal form.
Reading: We reviewed and practiced some more initial, medial and ending consonant sounds. All the children have been doing very well, we will have a Phonics assessment tomorrow, there is no need to study for this quiz. It is all material we have been practicing and reviewing in class, consonant sounds. Please remember to help your child study for their spelling quiz on Friday.
Social Studies: We had a two hour block of social studies today, tomorrow we will do the same for science. We shared our maps of their homes and described where everything was. Later we drew a map of the classroom, they did a wonderful job! We copied some key words and concepts in our social studies notebooks from Unit 1 within our book.
ECA (Extra Curricular Activity) time is coming up next period, and in an effort to know everyone in the school a little better, first grade will spend their time with Ms. Easterling (2nd grade teacher) today and they will do a fun activity together, while I receive the 2nd graders.
Homework: MPB 2.3
Have a great day!
