This week in Grade 1 we have seen and reviewed the following things:
Language arts: Finished our Unit Assessment on nouns, pronouns and special nouns (proper nouns). We have also wrapped up the sentences and the main rules. Kids will now start working on understanding, identifying and writing their own personal narrative.
Reading: Wrapped up Short vowels with a Unit 3 assessment. So much progress in reading these months, I am so proud of all the students improvements. We began reading a story called "The Tree". We are also discussing how to find the following elements in a story: title, author, illustrator, characters, setting and plot.
Math: We have wrapped up basic addition and subtraction strategies for numbers under 10. We will now begin a geometry chapter, shapes, sides, angles, understanding symmetry and more! Coming up tomorrow to last a few weeks.
Social Studies: Introduction to land formations and where we live. Began learning what is an address, and how specific and broad a place we can use to describe where we live. We will be learning the 7 continents and 5 oceans and how to locate them on a map the following week.
Science: Plants, their parts, their functions and how they differ!
Homework: Science Worksheet BrainCheck
Spelling: Study for spelling quiz tomorrow!
Have a great day!
