Hello! Grade 1 today .....

In phonics we have been learning about words that end with -le. Today we worked really hard on making our hard and soft sound with the letters C and G. Examples: Soft C- pencil, face, ice. Hard C- cake, clock, cat. Soft G - age, page, huge. Hard G - goat, gave, green.

Math: We have finished Chapter 10 and 11 review today and will have an assessment on Friday. This will include counting by tens and ones as well as estimating and sequential number orders.

We have completed a short introduction to the new Science Unit 9: All About Matter. The important terms for this unit include: matter, property, texture, weight, temperature, matter, mass, solid, liquid, gas, mixture and dissolve. We will be spending the following weeks learning about these terms.

I kindly remind you tomorrow to have the students bring an old t shirt or smock for painting since we will be doing a community project of painting the walls in our building. The kids will also be having a movie afternoon given by the student council, the movie and snack entrance is $70.

For our Day Camping Trip to Tainan on Thursday, please have the children bring:

Hello parents!
Hope you have had a wonderful Spring Break and Easter weekend! We are back at school and officially starting Quarter 4.

Because last week we were not able to finish IOWA TESTS, we were not able to do our spelling test. This week the words stay the same but we have added 3 extra words:
wiggle, uncle and pebble.

Today we wrapped up the science portion of the IOWA Exams and have given them to Mr. Hilden to send off to USA for marking.

Today in Assembly Sister Heart spoke to us about the Christian meaning of Easter Sunday and the importance of the resurrection of Christ in the life of a Catholic.
We also focused on completing our Phonics lessons from last week and completed a new Math lesson.

Important information for this week:

- Wednesday: Please have students bring a smock or an old t shirt as we will be painting the hallways in a effort to make the building more colorful and have the school Houses create a bigger sense of community. There will also be a movie showing that afternoon by the student council, entrance fee is $70 per ticket, which include snack and drink.

- Thursday we will be heading to our annual camping trip, we will leave at 8:30 am promptly and be back before 4:00 pm for regular dismissal. We will be having Lunch at the camp grounds which is in Tainan.

- Next week students will have Monday and Tuesday off as a national holiday to celebrate Tombs Sweeping Day and Children's day.

Homework for tonight:
Spelling: Write one sentence with each new spelling word (uncle, pebble, wiggle)
Math: MPB 11.6
