Hope you are having great Monday! Here a quick recap of our day:
Assembly: We talked more about our Houses, the new system, how you can earn points and why they can be deducted. We also separated into House groups and did fun team building activities.
Reading: Copied and discussed new spelling words, we are up to 12 spelling words this week. 6 with /oa/ spelling and 6 with /ow/ spelling:

Math: We completed our Math assessment for Chapter 3. We will begin chapter 4 tomorrow, it should be completed by next week, when we will have the Math quarter 1 exam and we can cover Unit 1, chapters 1-4.
Social Studies: Began a new unit that is titled Citizenship. We reviewed some new vocabulary words which included: laws, country, government, president, communities and flag.
Exam schedule and guides will be sent home tomorrow. Please let me know if you ave any questions or concerns about the exams.

Hello parents, this has been a busy Friday! I hope you are all well.
Today we completed our science unit 1 assessment as well as our weekly spelling quiz. Next week I will be sending email with some grades and important information about the quarter exams which will be the week of October 29th-2nd. We will be having exams for all the major subjects as well as the special subjects. I will be sending home study guides by the end of next week for students to review at home with their parents. I will also be contacting parents through your children's assignment book in order to see if we can set up a meeting if needed for a quarter review. Not all students will need this.
Reminder: Monday we will have Math Chapter 3 assessment (Subtraction) Homework is 4 math worksheets to practice.

Language arts: Reviewed independent sentence practice.
Social Studies: Finished our Assessment and reviewed all the right answers. Talked about what we learned, now that in first grade we must take tests.
Science: Completed the third part of our review for the assessment tomorrow.
Math: Worked on basic addition and subtraction problems with coloring squares.
Homework: Today kids take home their complete Science review, they must go over the questions and make sure they learn them for the assessment tomorrow. Study for weekly spelling quiz.

Hello to everyone! Today we worked on the following things:
Language Arts: We are beginning a new unit where we write a short story as a class, so today was a small introduction to the elements we can find in a story, such as title, author, characters and setting.
Math: Continued with our Chapter in subtraction, today we focused on vertical subtraction.
Phonics: Reviewed the short /a/ and short /i/ sound, introduced the short /u/ sound and reviewed the rules for pronouncing the short vowel in words.
Social Studies: Completed Part I of our Unit 1 test in partners, they made a small outline of the Part 2 assessment.
Science: Completed another page for Assessment Review of Unit 1: How to Scientist Work, assessment is still scheduled for Friday. Please let me know if you have any question on the assessment, tomorrow they will be taking home the complete Review to study.
I know some student have finished their reading logs, I will give them new RL sheets tomorrow.
Homework: Complete a Science Worksheet and Study for spelling quiz Friday
Hello parents! Hope your having a lovely Tuesday, here is a quick summary of our day:
Mass - 6th and 7th grade hosted mass this morning, the kids behaved wonderfully and they also sang beautifully.Mr. Prudencio is very proud of them!
Math: We continue to complete lessons in Chapter 3 - Subtraction Methods, today we focused on subtracting from numbers 7, 8 and 9. We have also been completing Square Coloring pages, where they solve addition and subtraction problems to color a hidden a picture.
Students went to the library today to check out new books. This is a great opportunity to log some more reading hours in the Reading Log!
Social Studies: Completed a Review from our Social Studies book for Unit 1 in our Social Studies notebook. Discussed all our previous lessons and main ideas, to prepare for the assessment they will have tomorrow.
Science: Began Part 1 of our Science Review, will have 2 more days of review as well before the Science Unit 1 Assessment this Friday.

Social Studies: Read pages 38 & 39 with a parent

Math: working on addition and subtraction problems, focus is on word problems and what to look for.
Reading:

We also began reading :Where does Food Come From?" and reviewing what it means to read a real story (non Fiction) and understanding the authors purpose. Feel free to re read with your child te story a home it is in their Journeys book. You may also write it in their log.
We will be having Mass rehearsal this afternoon for Mass tomorrow morning, please try to make sure your child is on time.
Homework: 2 Math worksheets in their folders/Study new spelling words with the sound /ai/ .

Hello parents! Happy day, it's Friday! :)
Today has been a busy day, we had dance class, computer class and electives!
For math we talked about what mixed practice is (addition and subtraction sentences together) and we completed our Language Arts quiz, spelling quiz and began a new science review. Next week our own 1st grade students, Jackie and Kevin, will be reading the daily prayers for the week.
Next week we will be having a Social Studies quiz (which will be an in class project) and we will begin a new unit in Language Arts where we write a story together as a class. We will also be wrapping up chapter 4 in Math and the assessment is scheduled for Monday September 21st.
Homework for this weekend is the Mixed Practice Math Worksheet that should be in your child's folder and to fill out some time slots in the Reading Log.
